The US Marine Corps is enhancing expeditionary firepower through the acquisition of the Scorpion Light mobile mortar platform. Developed as a lightweight automated indirect fire system, it combines mobility with precision engagement capabilities suited for littoral and distributed warfare. Integrated digital fire control allows rapid target engagement and repositioning to avoid counterfire threats. Transportable by tiltrotor and helicopter aircraft, the system enables Marines to deploy precision fires in austere locations. The procurement follows successful operational evaluations aimed at accelerating adoption of agile combat systems tailored to modern expeditionary missions.
