Canada has collaborated with L3Harris’ Quebec-based segment to assess the requirements for establishing an F-35 sustainment facility for its air force. This proposed depot is integral to Ottawa’s ongoing initiative to replace its aging 1980s-era CF-18 Hornet fleet with 88 new fifth-generation CF-35A Lightning II fighter jets. As part of this infrastructure project, L3Harris will evaluate the specific needs and costs associated with launching the center, in addition to exploring potential enterprise opportunities it could offer post-construction. The Canadian government cited L3Harris’ long-standing partnership with the Royal Canadian Air Force, particularly in providing maintenance, repair, and overhaul services for the existing Hornet fleet, as the basis for selecting the company for this endeavor.
