London and Berlin have finalized a £52-million agreement to jointly procure and test the RCH 155 self-propelled artillery system, reinforcing NATO cooperation amid evolving security challenges. The deal provides the British Army with an early prototype and Germany with two additional units, creating a shared testing framework that accelerates capability development and reduces duplication. The RCH 155 is mounted on the Boxer 8×8 platform and features a fully automated 155mm gun capable of firing in any direction while maneuvering at speed. With a firing rate of up to eight rounds per minute and ranges beyond 70 kilometers, the system delivers long-range precision fires while maintaining high tactical mobility. Its two-person crew and extended operational range enhance deployability and sustainment efficiency. The initiative complements Germany’s larger RCH 155 procurement program and positions the system as a future cornerstone of British artillery modernization under the Mobile Fires Platform concept.
