In a joint initiative, the United Kingdom, Italy, and Japan unveiled plans on Friday to create a supersonic next-generation fighter jet by 2035, replacing the Eurofighter Typhoon. The new project, in which British BAE Systems, Italian Leonardo, and Japan Aircraft Industrial Enhancement Co Ltd (JAIEC) would each hold a 33.3% stake, “marks a pivotal moment for the international aerospace and defense industry.”
