HII Ingalls Shipbuilding has delivered the Arleigh Burke-class destroyer USS Ted Stevens (DDG-128) to the US Navy, marking another milestone in the Navy’s surface combatant modernization effort. As a Flight III destroyer, the ship integrates the SPY-6 radar and upgraded Aegis combat architecture, enabling simultaneous tracking and engagement of ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, aircraft, and surface threats. The delivery follows extensive testing to confirm readiness for fleet operations. Ted Stevens is one of several Flight III ships under construction as the Navy seeks to maintain technological superiority in contested maritime environments. The class remains the backbone of US surface warfare, offering multi-mission flexibility, extended endurance, and layered defense capabilities. With ongoing production across multiple hulls, the program continues to anchor US naval power projection well into the coming decades.
