Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), India’s leading aerospace and defense firm, has issued a Request for Proposal (RFP) for the co-development of an advanced Electronic Warfare (EW) suite to enhance the combat effectiveness of its Light Combat Helicopter (LCH) fleet. The project will be led by HAL’s Strategic Electronics Research & Design Centre (SLRDC) in Hyderabad.
This initiative represents a major step toward bolstering India’s self-reliant defense capabilities. Designed for high-altitude warfare, the LCH is capable of operating in demanding environments—from mountainous terrain to low-altitude zones—and is equipped with air-to-air missiles, anti-tank guided missiles, and rockets for multi-role operations.
With the increasing complexity of modern warfare, the integration of a sophisticated EW suite is critical for enhancing mission success and ensuring aircraft survivability, highlighting HAL’s continued focus on indigenous innovation and combat readiness.
