Finland has reached a key milestone in naval modernization as construction begins on the fourth Pohjanmaa-class corvette. Under Squadron 2020, the ships will replace multiple legacy platforms with a smaller number of highly capable, multi-role vessels optimized for Baltic conditions. Each ship combines anti-surface, anti-submarine, and air-defense capabilities with modern sensors and networked combat systems. With all four hulls now in production, the program marks a decisive shift toward a more compact but technologically advanced Finnish surface fleet.
