Shield AI has provided the US Marine Corps with its first ViDAR (Visual Detection and Ranging) optical sensors, which are powered by artificial intelligence (AI) and are intended to aid drone operations. ViDAR is a payload system that uses wide-area motion imagery to detect, identify, geolocate, and track objects. It is especially helpful in challenging maritime environments and supports intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance, and search-and-rescue operations. Using ultra-HD multi-spectral sensors, the system can identify both stationary and moving targets at altitudes of up to 30,000 feet (9,114 meters) and track several objects.
