The Italian Air Force will soon enhance its airborne electronic warfare capabilities through the acquisition of two Gulfstream G550 aircraft modified by L3Harris. These jets will be equipped with state-of-the-art jamming systems and integrated into the country’s special mission fleet, which already includes the Joint Airborne Multi-Mission Multi-Sensor System (JAMMS). JAMMS is a versatile platform supporting intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance operations, and forms part of L3Harris’ broader multi-mission aircraft lineup used by multiple allied nations, including the United States, Canada, Australia, Japan, and South Korea. The new additions will boost Italy’s ability to operate in contested environments and contribute to NATO’s electronic warfare readiness.
