Raytheon delivered the first PhantomStrike radar to Korea Aerospace Industries for integration into itsFA-50light combat aircraft fleet. This delivery represents significant progress in the 2023 collaboration aimed at equipping the FA-50 with advanced targeting and tracking systems. The PhantomStrike is an air-cooled, gallium nitride-based firewall radar designed for compact platforms that demand high performance with limited size and power availability, such as light fighter jets, helicopters, and unmanned aerial vehicles. It weighs about 50% less than typical fire-control radars while providing superior long-range detection, digital beam agility, and strong resistance to electronic jamming. The radar demonstrated excellent air-to-air and air-to-ground operational performance during early 2025 flight tests on Raytheon’s Multi-Program Testbed aircraft. A lab integration system was sent to KAI in August, with manufacturing spread across Raytheon plants in Forest, Mississippi; Tucson, Arizona; and Scotland, with additional support from Raytheon UK. The radar is officially authorized for sale to international customers through a Direct Commercial Sale process.
