“THE HAGUE, Netherlands – A new strategic alliance between French military vehicle manufacturer Arquus and Germany’s Daimler Truck aims to supply the French military with new military trucks.
A joint statement stated that the partnership, which was announced on Thursday, would have both firms combining their skills in the areas of joint vehicle development, manufacturing, sales, and after-sales support, with a specific emphasis on upgrading the French Army’s fleet of logistical vehicles. The collaboration coincides with rising military expenditure throughout Europe and growing worries about military technology sovereignty and dependence on the United States. The firms stress their local character in their press release, with Daimler operating a facility in Germany close to the French border and Arqus manufacturing only in France.
Now a member of the John Cockerill group, Arquus has decades of experience in system integration and protected mobility, producing 90% of the French Army’s wheeled vehicles. With production facilities in France and Germany, Daimler Truck, one of the biggest manufacturers of commercial vehicles in the world, contributes a great deal of scale and industrial capacity.
