Collins Aerospace has received a $20.3-million contract to modernize the US Navy’s E-6B Mercury airborne command post aircraft. The upgrade includes delivery of high-power transmit set modernization kits to enhance secure, continuous communications for TACAMO missions. The E-6B serves as a critical airborne relay for nuclear command and control. Work will be completed by 2027, supporting the Navy’s broader transition toward the future E-130J platform.
