A new development in the Caribbean naval scene emerged as Venezuela reportedly deployed Iranian-made Peykaap III fast attack craft. Online footage appears to show several of these vessels performing high-speed maneuvers in Venezuelan waters. While not yet fully verified, the deployment is strategically significant. The Peykaap III, designed for swarm tactics in confined seas, is lightweight yet heavily armed with machine guns and anti-ship missiles like the CM-90. Its ability to exceed 50 knots enables rapid hit-and-run strikes, posing a disproportionate threat to larger surface ships. Defense analysts suggest Venezuela’s use of these boats could reshape maritime security dynamics by introducing asymmetric challenges for neighboring forces and regional patrols.
