On December 4, 2024, the U.S. Army awarded Boeing a Lot 3 contract valued at $135 million (€127.7 million) for the production of three additional CH-47F Block II Chinook heavy-lift helicopters. This order follows the Army’s decision in February 2024 to proceed with full-rate production of the CH-47F Block II program. Including this latest contract, Boeing is now set to deliver nine of the 465 helicopters planned for the Army’s fleet. Funding for these three additional units was secured through Congressional appropriations, and Boeing had earlier received a contract to procure long-lead components. The first CH-47F Block II was delivered in June 2024, followed by the second in September, marking continued progress in modernizing the Army’s heavy-lift capabilities.
