BAE Systems has collaborated with the U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command Armaments Center (DEVCOM-AC) under a Cooperative Research and Development Agreement (CRADA) to advance the M109-52 Self-Propelled Howitzer prototype. This partnership focuses on accelerating the development of improved long-range fires, advanced technologies, and enhancements to artillery systems actively deployed by Soldiers today.
The M109-52 prototype presents a lower-risk and more cost-efficient technical solution, enabling quicker delivery of critical warfighting capabilities.
The CRADA expands on previous separate work and testing conducted by BAE Systems and DEVCOM-AC, fostering a faster route to delivering new artillery features and lethality upgrades for the M109A7 Paladin.
Further development efforts will take place at Picatinny Arsenal and within BAE Systems’ strong U.S. defense industrial network, including facilities in Anniston, Alabama; Elgin, Oklahoma; Minneapolis, Minnesota; Sterling Heights, Michigan; and York, Pennsylvania.
