Australia has agreed to transfer a Guardian-class patrol vessel to the Maldives, marking a pivotal step in strengthening bilateral defense collaboration.
The ship will serve the Maldives by monitoring maritime borders, especially against illegal fishing, trafficking, and unregulated movement within its EEZ.
In addition to the boat, Australia will provide sustainment tools and hydrographic equipment, enabling the Maldives to boost maritime domain awareness and foster ocean-based economic development.
