Anduril Industries has acquired American Infrared Solutions (AIRS) to expand its portfolio of infrared sensors and cooled camera technologies, strengthening its position in the defense, aerospace, and industrial imaging markets.

Under the deal, AIRS’ thermal imaging products will be integrated into Anduril’s autonomous mission systems, enhancing the firm’s capacity to field high-resolution infrared imaging across multiple domains—from airborne surveillance to maritime security.

AIRS will remain operational in New Hampshire, continuing to supply cameras to other clients, while providing Anduril with secure in-house access to a vital sensor component line.

The acquisition complements Anduril’s focus on merging hardware and AI-driven autonomy, a combination increasingly essential in modern warfare and surveillance.

Infrared and multispectral imaging now underpin platforms such as the US Army’s Reaper and Gray Eagle UAVs, and US Navy’s AN/AAS-44C targeting pods, as well as counter-drone systems like Leonardo DRS’s MX-GCS and Teledyne FLIR’s Boson+.
