During a visit by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Wednesday, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz stated that Berlin will assist Kyiv in creating novel long-range weaponry capable of reaching targets far inside Russian territory.
Later, the defense ministers of both nations signed a memorandum of understanding for the manufacture of long-range weapons systems, but they did not specify the technical specifics or the manufacturers involved.
“Ukraine will be able to fully defend itself, even against military objectives outside its own territory, since there will be no range limits,” Merz stated at a combined news conference.
