BrahMos Aerospace, in collaboration with Russia, is reassessing the BrahMos-2K hypersonic cruise missile’s design and pricing after receiving a tepid response from potential stakeholders. Concerns over high development and unit costs have led both partners to consider performance enhancements alongside cost optimization. Based on Russia’s 3M22 Zircon, the BrahMos-2K was envisioned to achieve speeds of Mach 6 with a range of 800–900 kilometers. Unlike strategic missiles with nuclear capabilities, the BrahMos-2K is tailored solely for conventional warfare, offering the Indian Armed Forces an advanced precision-strike solution.
