Amidst the continuing conflict between Russia and Ukraine, Poland has strengthened its position on NATO’s eastern front by signing a roughly $2 billion air defense deal with the United States. The deal, which was developed by Raytheon, includes logistics, equipment, and training for the Patriot air defense system, ensuring operational preparedness against aerial threats like aircraft and tactical ballistic missiles. Previously, as part of the first phase of the Wisła program, which is a component of Warsaw’s overall multi-layered air defense strategy, two Patriot batteries were purchased. The Integrated Battle Command System (IBCS) and PAC-3 MSE missiles are included with these batteries.
