The $163.4-million Textron Systems contract to supply Commando Select armored vehicles represents another tangible step in the US effort to strengthen Ukraine’s ground forces. Approved under USAI and executed through the FMS process, the deal includes 65 vehicles along with logistics support, reflecting a focus on both immediate capability and sustainment. The Commando Select offers enhanced crew protection, off-road mobility, and adaptability across combat environments, addressing Ukraine’s need for survivable platforms amid high-intensity operations. The award fits within a broader pattern of US assistance combining direct equipment transfers, contracted production, and long-term capability building. Since 2024, Washington has committed billions of dollars in military aid, supplying artillery rounds, precision rockets, air-defense systems, drones, and armored platforms. Additional funding approved in late 2025 and early 2026 further supports Ukraine’s air-defense network and integration of Western aircraft. Together, these measures illustrate a sustained strategy to reinforce Ukraine’s operational effectiveness while ensuring predictable industrial delivery pipelines.
