The US State Department has authorized a potential $200 million sale to the UK for additional Navy Multiband Terminals, expanding British access to the AEHF strategic communications network. RTX Corporation will serve as the primary contractor. The UK is requesting six more terminals, adding to a previous approval covering two systems valued at roughly $41 million. The total package now comprises eight NMTs designed to provide the Royal Navy with secure, high-capacity communications. The notification includes encryption devices, submarine high-data-rate masts, testing support, spare parts, training, documentation, and contractor services for installation and long-term sustainment. The new terminals are expected to equip the UK’s Dreadnought-class submarines, enhancing strategic connectivity across naval and shore assets. The approval reflects ongoing US-UK defense cooperation, which has recently included support for the UK’s E-7 Wedgetail program, F-35B sustainment packages, and continued sales of AIM-120 AMRAAM missiles. Additional contracts tied to the P-8A Poseidon fleet—covering sensors, training, and maintenance—remain active as part of the broader transatlantic partnership.
