Ukraine has introduced a novel soldier-protection system with the unveiling of a thermal-imaging camouflage poncho by defense company STG. Presented at the Brave1 Defense Tech Valley 2025 exhibition, the poncho is designed to shield soldiers from infrared detection and improve survivability in high-threat environments. The system leverages advanced stealth materials that suppress a soldier’s thermal signature, allowing them to remain concealed from enemy surveillance. Field performance indicates it can hide a thermal footprint up to 100 meters in forested areas and 250 meters in open terrain, distances that substantially complicate enemy targeting. The innovation is lightweight and easily transportable, giving individual soldiers a stealth capability traditionally reserved for larger platforms or units. Beyond its technical attributes, the poncho reflects Ukraine’s determination to adapt quickly to evolving battlefield threats.
