Germany’s Hensoldt has received a €340 million ($397 million) contract to supply Ukraine with additional air defense radars, including the TRML-4D and SPEXER 2000 3D MkIII systems. The TRML-4D, a critical radar for the IRIS-T SLM missile defense batteries already in Ukrainian service, uses active electronically scanned array (AESA) technology to detect and classify around 1,500 airborne targets—ranging from cruise missiles to helicopters—within a 250-kilometer (155-mile) radius. Complementing this is the SPEXER 2000, a short-range radar capable of tracking ground, maritime, and low-altitude aerial threats. It is deployed on platforms such as the Skyranger 30 mobile air defense system and integrated into counter-drone solutions like Feldlager and HoWiSM, the latter of which features high-energy laser capabilities.
