GDLS-UK and Ricardo have partnered to produce light mobility vehicles for the British Army under the LMP initiative. Using the Ford Ranger Super Duty as a base, the vehicles are enhanced for military applications with upgraded payload, mobility, and protection. Both 4×4 and 6×6 prototypes are being tested, retaining the Ranger’s commercial features while integrating defense-grade systems. The effort supports modernization objectives by replacing aging fleets with flexible, multi-role vehicles, and also strengthens local supplier networks and sustainment capabilities.
