Somalia has acquired a new fleet of helicopters from Turkey, further solidifying defense ties between the two countries.

Three T129 Atak attack helicopters have been assigned to Somalia’s air force, and two utility helicopters to its navy. The transfer was executed through coordinated Turkish and Qatari military airlifts.

This aligns with a 10-year bilateral agreement between Ankara and Mogadishu, allowing Turkey to assist in securing Somali waters and training defense personnel against insurgent threats and regional instability.
