The Theon-Hensoldt consortium has secured a landmark €1-billion contract from OCCAR to supply approximately 100,000 additional Mikron night-vision goggles to Germany and 4,000 units to Belgium, marking the largest single NVG procurement by a European NATO nation. The award builds on earlier orders that brought total deliveries to more than 178,000 systems planned by 2030. Equipped with 16mm image-intensifier tubes from France’s Exosens, the dual-tube binocular design significantly improves depth perception, mobility, and situational awareness. The goggles are optimized for special operations and conventional forces alike, offering reduced helmet profile, lower neck strain, and flexible power options through AA batteries or remote packs.
