To improve its support for the broader defense and police force, Denmark’s Home Guard has received two De Havilland Twin Otter short takeoff and landing (STOL) utility planes. Through an eight-year lease agreement, the aircraft, which had been altered for patrol duties, were acquired. During this time, they would offer surveillance, search, and other crucial support for domestic missions and areas of operations under Frontex, the European border agency. The pair will take the place of two Britten-Normann Defender transport aircraft acquired in 2015 under a separate lease arrangement, which will soon be decommissioned after accumulating around 6,800 flying hours.
