The first component of the Royal Navy’s next-generation electronic warfare system has come off the assembly line and is currently going through its last testing and improvements. The Maritime Electronic Warfare System Integrated Capability (MEWSIC) will be installed on the two Queen Elizabeth-class carriers, the Type 45 destroyers, and the future Type 26 and 31 frigates. Under a 13-year, 100-million-pound ($125 million) contract, a Babcock-led team, including Elbit Systems UK and QinetiQ, has been working on the system.
