As part of a foreign military sale agreement with the US, the Australian Defence Force has taken delivery of its first M142 High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS). The transfer is a component of Canberra’s national defense plan, which aims to strengthen the military’s capacity for long-range strikes in the face of current and potential threats. The investment in the HIMARS is 1.6 billion Australian dollars ($1 billion) and covers orders for up to 42 units.
