South Korea has conducted the first flight of its prototype of an indigenous mine countermeasures rotary wing aircraft in South Gyeongsang Province.
The display is a component of a 347.7 billion won ($256.6 million) initiative unveiled in 2022 to equip the Republic of Korea Armed Forces with an indigenous helicopter that can assist naval minehunter ships.
The platform will then go through extensive testing to ensure the validity of its flight performance, technology systems, and safety procedures.
The Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA) and Korea Aerospace Industries, who are in charge of the program, will then oversee the aircraft’s development until 2026.
