The BRP Miguel Malvar (FFG-06), the Philippine Navy’s latest guided missile frigate, has entered the Operational Readiness and Capability Tests (ORACT) — a critical pre-service evaluation to confirm combat effectiveness and crew proficiency. The ORACT is a structured, four-phase assessment aligned with the Navy’s doctrinal requirements.

Phase one focuses on comprehensive inspections of onboard systems, crew certification, and tactical validation. In phase two, simulated engagements and drills expose weaknesses in equipment or procedures. Phase three involves corrective actions from OEMs and internal support units. Finally, phase four ensures all adjustments are institutionalized for long-term readiness.

The frigate will undergo scenario-based testing across multiple warfare domains, including ASuW, ASW, AAW, and EW, to simulate real-world combat conditions and confirm operational integrity.
