To improve its mine countermeasures capabilities, Sweden has made an agreement with Teledyne Marine to purchase “Gavia” autonomous underwater vehicles (AUV). The agreement, which has the potential to be extended, is valued at 190 million Swedish kronas, or $17 million, and will run through 2028. The Swedish Navy will be assisted by the AUV in its mission of mapping the seabed, generating high-resolution sonar images, and carrying out target detection activities.
