To supply Taiwan with the AN/TPS-78 Advanced Capabilities (ADCAP) radar, Northrop Grumman has formed a partnership with the Taiwanese companies Ramatek, Champion Auto, and Vivian & Vincent International Trading.
The radar uses the S-band to reduce interference and maintain performance in high-signal conditions.
It can detect both high- and low-altitude targets in any weather thanks to its stacked beam construction.
The system is easier to transport and has simpler logistics because of its small size.
The AN/TPS-78, which is used by the US Air Force and its international allies, offers long-range aerial monitoring from a variety of sites.
It has a range of up to 240 nautical miles (444 kilometers/275 miles) and scan rates of 5 or 10 seconds, allowing for quick-update tasks, such as including tactical ballistic missile tracking and ground-controlled intercepts.
The AN/TPS-78 ADCAP has a subsystem for identifying and monitoring small drones and maritime targets that uses automated tracking and algorithms to keep constant surveillance while reducing false alarms.
The radar may be moved by train, helicopter, vehicle, or C-130 cargo plane.
A crew of four can install the system in under 30 minutes, according to the business.
