The Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV) has placed an order with Saab for Giraffe 4A radar systems and associated support services for the Swedish Armed Forces. The contract is valued at approximately SEK 1.4 billion, with deliveries planned between 2026 and 2027.
Giraffe 4A will bolster Sweden’s ground-based air surveillance by offering a modern, mobile radar sensor that can be updated via software.
As a versatile radar, the Giraffe 4A can identify and track multiple objects simultaneously, making it suitable for a range of tasks including air and sea monitoring and military air traffic management.
