Germany has initiated the deployment of advanced GL-40 grenade launchers as part of its ongoing military modernization efforts, with deliveries supplied by Steyr Arms following an expanded agreement. The launchers, part of a larger order totaling several thousand units, are designed to meet evolving battlefield requirements and improve infantry firepower. Produced at Steyr’s facility in Austria, the GL-40 offers a highly adaptable solution that can be used independently or mounted on rifles such as the G95A1 and Steyr AUG. Its lightweight yet robust construction makes it suitable for extended operations, while its modular architecture supports integration with modern targeting systems and optics. The launcher’s side-loading mechanism and ergonomic design enable efficient handling in high-intensity combat situations. Additionally, its cold hammer-forged components contribute to enhanced durability and consistent performance over time. Already in service with various international forces, the GL-40 underscores Germany’s commitment to equipping its troops with reliable and modern weapon systems. The program also highlights broader European defense trends focused on interoperability, standardization, and increased readiness within NATO-aligned forces.
