South Korea and the UAE have signed a letter of intent for all-encompassing cooperation in the development and operation of Seoul’s KF-21 Boramae fighters.
UAE Air Force (UAEAF) Major General Rashid Mohammed al-Shamsi and Republic of Korea Air Force Chief of Staff Lee Young-su signed the agreement, which permits UAEAF troops to participate in upcoming exercises and air drills using the aircraft.
Delegates from the UAEAF also paid a visit to Korea Aerospace Industries’ factories in order to tour the KF-21 manufacturing line.
Seoul’s proposal for collaborative development initiatives with nations in the Middle East and Southeast Asia is the reason for the action.
The agreement made no mention of the potential that Abu Dhabi might buy the next-generation fighters.
