Seoul’s decision to fund a dedicated electronic warfare aircraft marks a major expansion of its ability to control the electromagnetic battlespace. The Block-I platform will provide long-range jamming and electronic intelligence collection, supporting both deterrence and wartime suppression of enemy air defenses. Likely based on a long-range business jet, the aircraft will feature high-power transmitters, advanced signal processing, and multiple operator stations. By assigning key roles to domestic firms, South Korea aims to build sovereign expertise in electronic warfare while fielding a capability previously limited to a small number of advanced air forces.
