South Korea’s defense agency has started the development phase of its UH/HH-60 helicopter modernization project, valued at nearly $715 million. More than 30 aircraft will undergo upgrades including digital cockpits, integrated communication systems, survival equipment, and obstacle warning features. The program, carried out by a Korean Air-led team with LIG Nex1 and Collins Aerospace, aims to improve survivability in special operations and enhance air force rescue missions. The initiative is also intended to expand domestic aerospace capacity, fostering over 50 new technologies and supporting the local industry through innovation and job creation.
