In order to build three more Avante 2200 corvettes, Saudi Arabia has agreed to a deal with Spanish state-owned shipbuilder Navantia. This follows a previous contract for five ships of the same class, which was started in 2022 and completed in March. According to the new agreement, the first corvette will be built in Spain, while the second and third will be constructed in Saudi Arabia. The contract also covers training for Saudi engineers, logistics support, operational evaluation, and combat system testing.
