Sweden’s Saab and Joint Stock Company Ukrainian Defense Industry (JS UDI) have signed a memorandum of understanding to deepen collaboration in aviation and airborne surveillance.
The agreement, unveiled during a multinational security conference in Munich, sets out joint efforts in aircraft development, radar systems, avionics, and advanced monitoring technologies to strengthen Ukraine’s defense posture. The MoU was formalized by Saab Deputy CEO Anders Carp and JS UDI head Herman Smetanin.
JS UDI, formed under Ukrainian government directives, unites more than 130 state and civilian defense enterprises and ranks among the world’s top 50 arms producers. Saab, a major global defense firm, is recognized for platforms such as the JAS 39 Gripen fighter and the Carl-Gustaf recoilless rifle.
