Russian forces are deploying an advanced camouflage system for troops and ground vehicles along frontline positions, incorporating realistic textures that mimic rocks, debris, and terrain features. Ukrainian sources indicate the technology aims to reduce detection by aerial and thermal sensors, improving survivability under persistent drone and surveillance pressure. The development aligns with Moscow’s shift to smaller, highly mobile assault teams of four to six soldiers, a strategy dubbed “thousand cuts,” designed to gradually erode Ukrainian defenses. Despite tactical gains, these operations have incurred notable Russian infantry losses. Concurrent airstrikes, such as recent attacks on Kharkiv, have targeted civilian infrastructure, illustrating Moscow’s combined approach of attritional ground maneuvers and aerial pressure.
