Romania’s Ministry of Defense plans to acquire 44 used Amphibious Assault Vehicles (AAVs) from the United States, doubling the original order envisioned in 2023. This move aligns with Bucharest’s broader strategy to modernize the Romanian Army by 2040 and enhance its ability to counter emerging threats. According to documents reviewed by DefenseRomania, the proposed contract includes AAV-7 variants of the US vehicles and has been submitted to parliament for approval.
