BAE Systems Hägglunds and Rheinmetall have signed an agreement to integrate the 120mm L44A1 low-recoil gun onto the CV90120 light tank, a modernized variant of the CV90 MkIV chassis. The upgraded vehicle features a reinforced transmission, new engine, advanced digital systems, and active protection measures. Rheinmetall’s L44A1 gun, derived from the established L/44 design, includes a muzzle brake for reduced recoil, allowing installation on lighter platforms. The cannon is compatible with all NATO-standard 120mm rounds, including high-explosive programmable and enhanced kinetic-energy ammunition. The collaboration enhances operational interoperability for CV90 operators, streamlining training, logistics, and spare parts support among allied forces.
