The US has approved a potential $3.42-billion deal to supply Peru with 12 F-16 Block 70 jets alongside advanced weapons and support systems. The acquisition is expected to reinforce Peru’s control of its airspace and improve operational capacity in counterterrorism and counter-narcotics. Included are AMRAAMs, Sidewinders, AESA radars, targeting pods, missile-warning systems, GPS/INS navigation, and logistics support. With Lockheed Martin and partners as prime contractors, the package aims to modernize the Peruvian Air Force fleet, provide multi-role precision strike capabilities, and deepen bilateral security cooperation with Washington.
