India is adding two new frigates, INS Himgiri and INS Udaygiri, to its fleet under the P-17A Nilgiri-class program. These ships are faster, stealthier, and heavily armed for multi-role naval missions. Built by two Indian shipyards, they also supported thousands of local jobs. By 2026, all seven frigates in the class will be in service.
