NATO’s Helicopter Management Agency has finalized an agreement with NHIndustries to supply the Netherlands with three NH90 NATO Frigate Helicopters, along with options for two additional platforms. This acquisition will elevate the Dutch naval helicopter fleet to as many as 22 aircraft. Assembly will take place at Leonardo’s facility in Italy, with all new helicopters incorporating Block 1/SWR3 enhancements such as Data Link 22, improved avionics, advanced electro-optics, upgraded acoustic sensors, and expanded weapons support. The Netherlands will modernize its existing NH90s to match this configuration, ensuring interoperability within NATO and simplifying logistics and maintenance. Deliveries are expected by the end of the decade, reinforcing Dutch commitment to the NH90 program since 1999.
