In order to manufacture the armored infantry fighting vehicle (VBCI) “Philoctetes” for the Hellenic Army, KNDS France has partnered with Athens-based Metlen Energy & Metals.
The deal is consistent with a plan unveiled in 2022 to construct a next-generation Greek armored fleet modeled after the French Army’s current 8×8 VBCI system, which was created by KNDS and Arquus.
According to the agreement with Metlen, KNDS will share knowledge about the aluminum armor and production methods of the VBCI Mark 2 welded structure for the Philoctetes’ hull.
To satisfy the mass manufacturing demands of both the Hellenic military and possible clients throughout Europe, supporting data will be used to strengthen the bilateral industrial collaboration between France and Greece.
