The arrival of the MC-55A Peregrine represents a major leap in Australia’s airborne intelligence and electronic warfare capability. Based on the long-range Gulfstream G550 and equipped with a highly classified multi-intelligence mission suite, the aircraft provides Australia with its first dedicated crewed ISREW platform. Delivered via a U.S. FMS program and integrated by L3Harris, the Peregrine supports long-endurance, high-altitude operations while collecting and disseminating signals intelligence across the electromagnetic spectrum. Initially supported by U.S.-based testing and training, the fleet will transition fully to RAAF control as follow-on aircraft are delivered. Permanently based at RAAF Base Edinburgh, the MC-55A is designed to integrate with assets such as the F-35A, E-7A Wedgetail, EA-18G Growler, and naval surface combatants, enhancing situational awareness, electronic order of battle generation, and long-range strike support.
