The Common Multi-Mission Truck (CMMT), a novel kind of modular and mass-producible air vehicle resembling a cruise missile, has been unveiled by Lockheed Martin. The CMMT, also known as the “comet,” is intended to be a cheap munition that is released in large quantities towards a single location in order to either overwhelm enemy defenses or guarantee the annihilation of a high-value target. It has a modular open systems architecture that allows for the reconfiguration of subsystems such as seekers, payloads, and engines in accordance with the objectives of the task.
